Co-op Reunioun - City Hall Restuarant

What a great time we had. It was wonderful seeing old friends and recognizing some old faces. We all kind of know each other in Co-op City. It was great for me since I knew people my age but I also knew people a bit older because of my big sis. It was great fun catching up. There is never enough time. It went so fast. We closed the bar down and I was home at 1:45am. It's been a long time since I've done that.

The photo above was taken around 34 years ago. 3 people in that photo were at the reunion. See if you can match the people.

Happy Thanksgiving/Christmas week getaway

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. It was a lot of work leading up to it but I love it. In Westchester there is not any one store that you can go to. I had to go to 4 different stores for all the stuff I need for a wonderful dinner. Also, I had my kids home on Wednesday so that was hard to do everything and make it a fun day for them. I made 2 new things this year and if I may give myself a pat on the back they were amazing. I made a butternut squash and other veggies ratatouille and an amazing stuffing. I had 14 plus people and it was a wonderful day. This long weekend was all about eating. I will have to work extra hard this week eating healthy and exercising.

I am still looking to do something during Christmas week. Maybe for just 2 days. If anybody has any suggestions in the Northeast that is inexpensive please let me know.

Sat. New York Times Front Page

Check it out the Cohen's have 15 minutes of fame. I got interviewed for the New York Times and they sent a photographer to our house on Friday night. How cool is that!!! Here is what they had to say....

Forget Caviar: Holiday Parties Feel the Pinch

My friends and I have all been talking about doing a lot more potluck,” said Eileen Cohen, right, with her husband, Jonathan.

Home entertainers are also paring preparations. Eileen Cohen, whose husband is a senior vice president at Lehman Brothers, usually gives elegant dinners featuring baby lamb chops and cut flowers, but on Friday, she planned to serve “turkey chili and appetizers from Costco” for a Halloween party at her home in Ardsley, N.Y.

“My friends and I have all been talking about doing a lot more potluck,” said Mrs. Cohen, whose husband, Jonathan, is still employed, helping the Wall Street firm with its bankruptcy. “We still all want to get together, but one person doesn’t need to absorb the whole cost.”

Wish List Wedneday - Birthday Wish/Happy Anniversary

So sorry I haven't posted. With the Jewish Holidays and me being in a bit of a funk I just fell behind.

My wish for Wish List Wednesday is for all Birthdays be as great as my 45th!!!

My birthday was on Sept. 26th. I always use my spa gift from Mother's day or Valentine's day on my birthday. This way I always have something to do. This year I actually had lunch plans with some gals overlooking the Hudson. It was a wonderful lunch.

I also bought tickets 6 months ago for my whole family to see "Wicked" (the Broadway show). Good thing I did that because the job situation for the hubby is on shakey ground. We drove into the city had a wonderful Italian dinner ( reasonably priced) and saw the show. I came home to wonderful cards and my usual beautiful poem from the hubby. My daughter's card brought tears to my eyes so I am going to type it for you all.

Dear Mom,

This must be a very special day well it only comes once a year! You always give me everything I always dream of having, so now it's my turn to say thanks. Thanks for being there, giving me advice, getting me things, loving me more that anything, for being my best friend, taking care of me, and most of all being my mom. You are the best mother ever but I really mean it! I love you so much and I hope you have a great birthday. Best Wishes!

Love,

S

There is no greater gift than a card like that.

The birthday celebration doesn't end there. My family brought the yummiest cup cake from the city and gave me the best compliment. I got a gift card to Victoria Secret for my new skinnier body.

I then went out by the Hudson again with a group of friends for dinner. The birthday celebration contiues. My knitting buddies had cake, balloons, gifts, and then took me to lunch.
It was a never ending Birthday celebration. Thank you to all my friends and family for making me feel special. I usually don't like a lot of attention but I think I really needed it this year.

On Yom Kipper night it was my Anniversary, 14 wonderful years. We weren't going to go out this year but both of our parents gave us money and insisted that we go out. So this Saturday we will.

My most important wish is always Health and Happiness to all!!!!

No More Lehman Brothers/Facebook

So the hubby works for Lehman Brothers and he was one of the 20 people trying to save the company this weekend. He is on the finance end of the Real Estate division. It was crazy. He never came home on Thursday night and worked all day Friday. At least he was able to work from home this weekend. It still didn't help. He went into work this morning with his suit and tie and he still has a desk to sit at. Who knows what will be. All I know is that the last 6 months sucked and I know something better will come of this. You know me always optimistic.

A couple of good things came out of this weekend.... My sister's son had his Bar Mitzvah and it was wonderful seeing family and old friends. Also, one of my business partners went to a training seminar and she came back with 3 things to say to me..... 1) Thank you 2)I love you & 3) We are going to get rich!!! She finally gets our business and that was so great to hear!!!

I also finally made a profile on facebook and all my old friends are contacting me. It is addicting. Check it out....http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php

I am not even sure if it is going to work but give it a go.

I'm Back/Kids are back from Sleep Away Camp

I've been so bad at blogging. Sorry to all of you who kept checking. I was so obsessed with finding my kids in photos each day combing through hundreds of photos and trying to spot the back of my kids heads. I also wrote them each and every day. This was soooo time consuming. Next year I will be much better. This was my first year for both kids to go to sleep away camp. What I learned...... Those pictures will always be waiting for me and not to write each day. All the junk games, books, stickers are never used. The only thing girls play with is Jacks. The only thing little boys play with is Pokeman cards. My son told me that he never read any of my letters because they were too long. All that time wasted. I now know that the kids are really happy with the camp we chose and they both made so many friends. I can now send them off next year and enjoy my time alone. I was really quite surprised how much I loved the empty house and the freedom to do what I want.

One of the other reasons I have haven't been blogging is I am focusing on my home based business. When I am home I am either on the phone with business partners or managing my web portal on the computer. I am starting to take this business more seriously. I did miss blogging though.

So the kids came home with over 100 lbs of laundry and my son came home with lice. We went straight to Hershey Park from camp but our first stop home was the lice lady. We all had to get combed out and all the the camp duffels went straight to the laundry mat. $120 in comb outs and checking and $126 at the laundry mat. I am an expert at combing out and if anybody local needs to be combed out I can always help.

The kids are back at school and their schedule is crazy. My little 8 yr old started tackle football and it is 4 days a week. Hebrew School twice a week, drum and skate board lessons, dance, tennis and girl scouts. I just never thought I would be one of those moms. I love some down time. They both quit soccer. Football and tennis are short seasons so it will change end of November.

I will start blogging but I can't promise it will be every day.
Miss you all!!!

Still So Busy for Blogging/Visting Day at Camp

I know it has been a while but I have been crazy!!! I've had my best friends staying with me all week and I was entertaining them. When I am on the computer I am looking at 200 pictures from my kids camp and trying to find them in the background. I also decided to go through my daughter's closet and sell some stuff on eBay which takes a bit of time downloading, posting, checking in and answering a bunch of questions. I posted 7 items and I have many watchers and 2 bids. I will keep you posted on my selling status.

Yesterday was visiting day and it was a perfect mostly sunny day in the Poconos. We got to see our kids there were some tears but we had an amazing day and they are both just sooooo happy. We went tubing with them and that was a highlight of our day. We only have 3 more week to go and the time goes by so fast.

Friday I am going to Fire Island for the weekend and then when I get back I will be in Greensboro, NC for a business conference for 5days.

I just got my nano and a voyager phone and finally I am part of the media generation of being connected. I've been listening to a book I downloaded and I even know how to text. Mind you our plan for our phone is less money because we just realized through my husband's company we get a 20% discount.

The summer is going fast and I can't believe my kids have been away for 4 weeks now.

My new summer reality shows are.....
Big Brother 10
Project Runway
Shear Genius
So You think You can Dance
Legally Blond - Over
Bachelorette- Over

Still time at 1 am watching DVR to catch up on my crazy shows.

I hope I have filled you in a bit sorry about falling off the blogging wagon.

Wish List Wednesday - Still No Time for Blogging - Transitions Weight Loss Program

So I thought when the kids were off to camp I would have all the time in the world to focus on blogging, my business, and having fun. The business and having fun are happening but I just don't have time to blog. Most of my time on the computer is looking at camp pictures, printing camp pictures, looking for free online stationery and emailing and writing my kids. During the day I am also consumed with getting the stuff that got lost in transit for the kids eg... face wash, Yankees hat, purell..... Each day I am purchasing something fun to put in a package. Who knew it would be this exhausting not having the kids home.

I also have been focusing on my weight loss program it's been over 60 days and I was suppose to measure myself but I just haven't had time. I know I lost around 10 pounds and many inches. I had to go out and get some new skirts and jeans. I am also able to wear those tight fitting shirts and I don't have to always wear those pregnant looking swing shirts all of the time. I think I will continue for another couple of months I feel so healthy. I do a boot camp class at the gym and I am one of the fastest and can do everything the instructor is asking of us. A couple of more months on my Transitions weight loss program and exercise regimen and I know I will be even happier. A bunch of women at my gym saw me and want to go on the same diet plan as me because they noticed my results. That just makes me feel great!!!!

If anybody is interested check out my JSShopping link listed on my blog.

On to Wish List Wednesday:

1. For the kids to continue having an amazing time at camp

2. Kwana to finish writing her book !!! I started it and I love it!!!! ( That means it better get published!!!)

3. Get better at tennis this summer

4. Enjoy my mini getaways with the hubby

5. Great weather for next week when I go to Fire Island

Homesick Letter - Sleep Away Camp

So things were going great. Great pictures, letters and today the bombshell. Camp is not so great and I am homesick. All letters prior to this said camp was awesome her bunk was great and she was making so many friends. We did talk to her on the phone yesterday which was an amazing phone call but today a long email came about wanting us to come and see her for a day. We know it is normal but I just want a new letter quickly talking about how great the camp is. 3 girls from her bunk are sick so that also could be another reason. Anyway I will keep you posted. We still haven't heard from our son yet but all news is that he is not homesick and having fun.

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Wish List Wednesday

1. My children continue to have a fantastic time at Sleep Away Camp.
2. Get a laptop
3. Change phones so I can get internet and texting.
4. Continue enjoying the alone time with the hubby.

Happy at Camp/ The Bachlorette (ABC)

So the kids are finally off. It doesn't seem real. It has only been 3 days. I am spending all my time on the computer looking for pictures of them and writing them letters. So far we have gotten great reports about our kids. The above pictures show them happy. What more can I ask for. My daughter even did the trapeze.

Bachlorette - Who will DeAnna choose?????

Now lets talk about DeAnna. I still like Graham but I also like Jesse and Jason. I think if she falls for both equally she should pick the one without a child. That's just me. When I was single I never even continued talking to any guy with a child. Who needs to fall in love with that baggage. Marriage is hard enough!!! This is the first time I felt bad for Jeremy but there was something so boring about him. Also even though he was good looking his shiny face just turns me off. Let me know your thoughts!!!

Wish List Wednesday/Sleep Away Camp Send Off Saturday

My only wish for this week is that I don't breakdown too much in front of my kids at the bus pick-up. This is my first time alone without both my kids. I have been soo sad and in funk all week. I will be fine when I know my kids are having a ball at sleep away camp. It can then be about me!!!

The above pictures are literally the camp my kids are going to. It looked like paradise to me when I went to visit. I am sure they will be fine.

Bachlorette-Good Bye Graham I Will Miss YOU!!!

I know I have been terrible about blogging but my focus has been about getting my kids off to sleep away camp. The amount of work is endless.

I just had to write about last nights devastating decision to get rid of Graham. He is the reason I have been watching. Graham is soooo hot!!!! She is still soooo young. How do you not take a chance on that type of chemistry. I like the other guys a lot but I liked to look at Graham the most. I will still watch reluctantly but I am so sad I will not be looking at my hotty!!!!

I will miss you Graham!!!

A List Bravo Awards/Wish List Wednesday on Friday

It's been a crazy week this week. First my daughter's Middle School was evacuated on Tues morning and I was with 3 girls (5th graders) just hanging, shopping and going to Dunkin Donuts to keep their mind of the scariness of the day. Our community is still dealing with the repercussions of that day.

On Wednesday I am at the Doctors office when Kwana calls me in a frenzy asking me to join her for the Bravo A List Awards. The person who was suppose to go got stuck in court. I had 2 kids with me and the hubby has been working till 9 every night. I was suppose to watch a movie with the daughter that night and my son was suppose to go to baseball practice which he loves. So the negotiations began. I had to pay them both big time to not be mad at me for ruining their night, then I had to let them rent a movie on cable that I really wasn't crazy about them seeing. My daughter is 11 1/2 and the son is almost 8. I leave them alone for no more that 2 hours this would have been 3. I called the neighbor and she said she would call and check on them. I got home at 5:30 and I now had to get dinner for the kids, leave dinner for the hubby and get dressed for a cool awards show in the city. I had 25 minutes to do it all. It was yucky weather in NY and I showered that day but didn't wash my hair I just threw on a hat. Now I had 15 minutes to get ready and look snazzy. My hair looked like a greaseball so I remembered that if you put powder in your hair it takes out some of the greasiness. I grabbed the first powder I saw and started to put it in my hair. I finally looked at the front and realized I just put foot powder in my hair. I have to say it did the trick. You should all try it some time. Kwana was at my house at 5:55. It was a great night check out Kwana's blog for the details.

This is us waiting on line to go into the awards show.

Thursday night was the Middle School band concert. My daughter plays clarinet. They did a great job. We didn't get home till 9:30. My computer was down all day with a Fios problem.

So now we are up and running and finally catching up.

Wish List Wednesday : Better late than never
1. The hubby's job slows down
2. If 1 can't happen then I wish the hubby gets a new job
3. That I will survive the Yankee game this Sunday with 94 degree weather.
4. A wonderful weekend for all.

Working on my 29 Gifts/Weight Loss

So far it hasn't be too hard to do. Of course I am only on day 4. Some days I may even do 2 things. I don't want to brag but it can be more than 2 but I only put the more important ones down on my challenge. I hope you all will join me it is rewarding.

Anyway I hate weighing myself but I went to the doctor today and I lost 6 pounds since I started this weight loss program. I really don't care about the weight but even with the loss I got in a bit of a funk. I have another doctor's appointment on July 30th so I am fine for the next 8 weeks.

Transitions Life Style System - 30 Day Results/Top Chef

So it has been a little over 30 days and I am feeling great and still not hungry. On day 31 I measured myself and lost 5 1/2 inches. 1 1/2 in. chest, 1 1/2 waist, 1 1/2 hips, and 1/2 in. per arm. It's weird that they don't measure the thighs. So the tally is 5 1/2 in. not including the thighs and I know I lost there too because I am wearing gym pants that I wouldn't have worn before.

So all in all I would say this is a great success. I am continuing the program for another 8 weeks. I couldn't be happier. I will give my next set of results at the 60 day mark!!!

TOP CHEF

BYE BYE SPIKE!!!

I wasn't so crazy about Spike but I can't believe they left Lisa in. David Dust claims the producers may have a hand in this because they want to increase the odds so a woman finally wins. That may seem true to me because I just can't believe she is in the top four.

I like Stephanie but I don't care who wins as long as it is not Lisa!!!

Holiday weekend

It was a wonderful 4 days off with the kids. The hubby was home all 4 days. We had a great weekend here in New York. The weather was awesome. Our pool and tennis club opened on Friday. I got some sun and tennis in all weekend long. I think I killed the hubby. He is not used to playing tennis. We went to a family circle reunion for my hubby's Greek side of the family. It was a wonderful day in Marmaroneck overlooking a lake. The kids went out on a boat and we had such nice weather, great food, and had fun meeting the family. We also went to see Indiana Jones with the kids. The movie is a great family movie. Yesterday we hosted a barbecue with some city friends. It was just an enjoyable family weekend.

Tomorrow is the the 30 day mark. I will measure on day 31. I will keep you posted.

American Idol - David Cook Wins

I am so happy for David Cook. I think what happened is the older generation was in fear of him losing and finally voted extra. I know I voted 15 times and my mom who has never voted did it 10 times. I think that David Archuleta is a very talented kid but he is so young and will have no problem with a career. To me he was just a bit boring. I will definitely download songs that David Cook sings. I love his voice. I also think he is quite sexy!!! I am so happy for him and I think it may have help that Simon was hard on him because his fan stepped it up and voted more because of it. My kids and I were jumping up and down when Ryan Seacrest said his name.

Congratulations to David Cook!!!

Check Out My New Dress/Wish List Wednesday

While we were on vacation on the Queen Mary 2 our garment bag got stolen and a bunch of my formal clothing was taken. We did get an insurance check and I now have an event June 1st and no dress to wear. I was in Bloomingdale's and they were having a 40% sale on all dresses. Since I need to replace my clothing it was the first time in my life I didn't look at price tags. Most dresses ranged from $150-$500 and with the 40% off it would have been a great deal. I tried on about 15 dresses and I finally found one I loved. It was a tiny bit big but I needed the larger size to fit the bust area. I got up to the register and the woman said to me you got such a great deal. I said how much I didn't even look at the tag. It came to $50. It was already marked down and then another 40%.

The best part is that I tried it on today and now it is really big on me. Now I have to get it tailored. Who cares my Transition weight loss program is really working. Even with the tailoring it is still a bargain.

Wish List Wednesday
1. A sunny and warm Memorial day weekend
2. Enjoying every moment with my kids before they leave for camp
